FAQs about Powder Cord Pouches
What are powder cords?
A powder cord is a ribbon or heavy string about six to eight feet long that attaches to your ski binding and helps locate your ski when it detaches from your boot in deep powder. As the loose ski submarines under the snow, the powder cord unfurls behind it on the surface.
How do I attach powder cords to my skis?
There are two ways to attach your powder cords. Please see the photos and descriptions on the support page on the website.
Why do I need Powder Cord Pouches?
The traditional way to use a powder cord is to stuff it into your pants’ leg, cram it into your boot, coil it under a rubber band or bungee cord, etc. These inadequate methods often result in the cord trailing along behind you, tangling with your other ski, wrapping around trees, and impeding your access to the chair lift. Powder Cord Pouches eliminate these hassles.
Do Powder Cord Pouches include powder cords?
Most people buy the full Monte, one pair of pouches with cords, but you can buy Powder Cord Pouches without powder cords. You can also buy just the cords without the pouches. Just click on your choice when ordering.
What happens when I take my skis off?
Ski removal is easy! Simply unclip your Powder Cord Pouches from your legs, step out of your skis, and unhook the cords from the bindings or wrap the straps around your skis. Powder Cord Pouches are especially useful if you ride gondolas, snow cat ski, heli ski, or find yourself in any other situation where you click in and out of your skis frequently.
Powder Cord Pouches look bulky. Isn’t it easier just to carry my cords in my pockets on iffy days?
No! Just stuff the cords, swivel clips and all, completely into your Powder Cord Pouches and clip them around your boots. That way, you’ll always have your cords with you whether you need them or not and your pockets will be free for your sun screen, lip balm, hand warmers, energy bars, cell phone and all the other junk you carry.
Do Powder Cord Pouches come in different sizes?
Nope. One size fits all; the strap will adjust to any size boot.
How durable are Powder Cord Pouches?
Powder Cord Pouches are very durable. The pouch material is Top Gun marine awning. The attachment strap is 1” wide poly webbing. The tri-glide and buckle are the same high quality hardware you already have in your backpack, fanny pack, HotBuns Butt Warmer, etc.
What if a Powder Cord Pouch tears or breaks?
We are unaware of any failures, but Powder Cord Pouches (and cords) are guaranteed for life. Just return the damaged pouch or cord, or e-mail us a photo, for free repair or replacement.
What if I lose a Powder Cord Pouch?
Zounds! In the unlikely event you lose a pouch, we will replace it for half the cost of a pair. (Shipping cost will be the same as for a pair.)
I’m fashion conscious. Will Powder Cord Pouches match my outfit?
The pouch itself is basic black with a white logo. The poly straps are available in a variety of colors, including black. The cords are rainbow.
Won’t I look like a dweeb with Powder Cord Pouches?
Absolutely not! You will look like a dweeb trailing a loose powder cord behind you or, even worse, stabbing around in the snow with your ski poles searching for your lost, cordless ski.
